  • Smriti says:

    Sir/ Madam,

This is to bring your kind attention- I understand that you have kept the minimum age of admission in Medical College as 17 years on 31st December of that year.

Sir, don’t you think that it is the same age criterion as it is being since the establishment of the MCI body? I believe that children of the present era are much more advanced with better accessibility to the facilities. Kids are now doing wonders in every field may it be sports, dance, music or studies.. if they are guided well.

As an aware parent it is the duty of every parent to work in the cognitive development of the child to develop the intellect of the brain, fine and gross motor co-ordination. Children are doing much more than what our parents and we were doing at their age.

In our time there was no computer course in the syllabus, the syllabus was not defined but now it is much more defined and refined as this has enabled children of the present epoch to develop an understanding for the subject at much faster pace. Children are learning computer and general knowledge to a greater extent, more scientific ways, interactive CDs are promoting enhanced learning and empowering young budding minds.

My research says that “oral therapy” (as you all are doctors, I believe you must be knowing the terminology well) is one such method where development of child is encouraged at the faster pace through the language development. There are some exceptionally brilliant students who not only get the opportunity to display their talents through “Olympiad Exams” conducted at school levels by “Science Olympiad Foundation”, New Delhi but children do wonders, then why such an imposition of age criterion?

At one end you are expecting the child of the same age say 17 to have an understanding of computers, Biology, Chemistry and Physics with recent advances well incorporated. Now, compare this child with the 17 year old child who took admission in the Medical College say 30 years back, was the child loaded with so much of information? No. Then, there should be amendment in your minimum age criterion either you eliminate the minimum age criterion or you reduce it at least to 16 years. As children are developing an in-depth understanding towards the subject, it is our duty to promote them to build a strong nation rather than de-motivating them that they are below age and are NOT ELIGIBLE.

Ibelieve that our country needs more doctors than engineers still health sector is struggling to provide best medical facility to each and every citizen, the population is growing and so are the demands… please understand the criticality of the issue and encourage young minds to participate in the development of the nation with a vision and not with a hate… encourage budding minds by removing the minimum age criterion or at least by one year… With the advances children are also advancing there is nothing which can stop the caliber of the child development…Let us join hands to promote good and enthusiastic doctors…

We require more doctors, engineering entrance does not have any minimum age criterion then why medical entrance?? Think over Authorities you should promote more doctors…Maharashtra govt. understood this and took the initiative to reduce the age by 15 years, why can’t it be implemented…

INITIALLY VOTER’S AGE WAS 21 AND THEN IT IS NOW TAKEN AS 18 YEARS, A REDUCTION OF AGE CRITERION BY THREE YEARS…..THEN WHY CAN’T YOU IMPLEMENT THIS AMEDMENT… KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN WE ARE IN TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED WORLD…DO NOT LET THE CHILDREN BE SUPPRESSED FROM DISPLAYING THEIR TALENTS… LET US PROMOTE THEM TO BECOME GOOD DOCTORS.. I BELIEVE THIS IS YOUR MOTIVE TO HAVE GOOD MEDICAL EDUCATION AND GOOD DOCTORS.. IF SO THEN IMPLEMENT THE RULE AND REDUCE THE AGE…

As such Medical Profession requires 10 odd years to complete the course including PG, by reducing the age you will be promoting faster results in the form of available doctors…

Those who can do please allow them to do their best don’t discourage them by being so rigid AND BIASED.. Think over its a matter of providing medical facilities to every citizen of the nation.. I believe we doctors are dedicated to serve people nor to hamper the psychological and intellectual development… I have carried out the research study where children if promoted in an appropriate manner are able to turn the stone then we should not be rigid or bind them through strings let them be free to contribute for the development of country… let them study earlier… please…

Thanks for the understanding and consideration for the nation…and the future of the nation, the children…

    Kind regards

  • Shalini says:

    Dear Administration of NEET,
I would like to bring to your consideration that our Academic session commences from 1st April to 31st March. Why the Age criteria of NEET is not followed as per the academic session? Our Academic session does not end on 31st December of any year then age limit should be fixed to 31st March of the session of the admission.
Secondly when the limit of sex is reduced to 16 then why 16 year child cannot write NEET? They have the judgement to establish physical relationship but they are not judgemental to write NEET. Athough the chile who is turning 17 on 31st December is equal to the child who is born on 1st January of the next year. Why during the process of admission children belonging to one age group before 31st March are not taken into consideration and calendar year is followed when academic sessions do not follow calendar year??
    I want the answer.

    • tanuja says:

Yes I too agree with you as the kids are well aware about the latest happening and their accessibility is enhanced so they should be admitted to the school and college earlier to channelize their energies in right direction and hence there should be a reduction in the age limit of the entrance examinations especially of Medical because of the extensive time duration for the completion of the course and necessity of super-specialization. I also agree with you that academic session should be followed in NEET age limit criterion and from 31st Dec it should be shifted to 31st March, as per the session of the academic curriculum.
thanks for such a wonderful idea
