After the feedback review of the draft syllabus by MCI, changes in the final from draft syllabus as based on the review committee

constituted by MCI, they have decided to remove the topics of chemistry which are not relevant to medical stream.

These topics include:

Chemistry of Class XI

Syllabus Portion and Deleted portion details:-

Unit I : Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry

- Historical approach to particle nature of matter.

UNIT II: Structure of Atom

-Discovery of electron, proton and neutron; Thompson’s model and its limitations, Rutherford’s model and its limitations, Bohr’s model and its limitations.

UNIT III: Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties

-Significance of classification, brief history of the development of periodic table, Inert gas radii, Nomenclature of elements with atomic number greater than 100.

UNIT IV: Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure

-Covalent character of ionic bond.

UNIT VI : Thermodynamics

-Concepts of system, types of systems, surroundings, work, heat, energy, extensive and intensive properties, state functions.

UNIT VIII: Redox Reactions

-Applications of redox reactions.

UNIT IX: Hydrogen

-Position of hydrogen in periodic table, hydrogen as a fuel.

UNIT X: s-Block Elements (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals)

-CaO, CaCO3

UNIT XI: Some p-Block Elements

-Physical and chemical properties of boron

UNIT XIII: Hydrocarbons

-Classification of Hydrocarbons; Aliphatic Hydrocarbons

 Chemistry of Class XII

Syllabus Portion and Deleted portion details:-

UNIT I: Solid State

-n and p type semiconductors.

UNIT III: Electrochemistry

-Nernst equation and its application to chemical cells

UNIT VII: p- Block Elements

-Group 15 elements: nitrogen-preparation, properties and uses; compounds of nitrogen, Group 16 elements: Properties and manufacture of sulphuric acid, Group 17 elements: Oxidation states; Prepartion of chlorine and hydrochloric acid.

UNIT VIII: d and f Block Elements

-Occurrence of transition metals; Metallic character of first row transition metals.

UNIT IX: Coordination Compounds

-Extraction of metals.

All the rest topics of Chemistry for Class 11 and 12 are same as the old draft syllabus.

    somewhere it is written that chemistry includes atomic structure n redox as well n somewhere written that it is deleted..what is d correct portion..?

    Sir,
    My son has just cleared 10th standard CBSE . Now if he is intrested for NEET which syllabus should he follow. CBSE or HSC. There is a lot of confussion in the minds of parents If both boards have to give same exam then why the books are different .Both should have same books. Pls reply

    I have copied down the syllabus of NEET-UG nd in dat it is written dat we do hav some basic concepts of chemisrty nd nw i get 2 knw dat it is deleted sir plz its a humble request 2 u dat plz confirm d syllabus coz of it we students r facing through many difficulties ….!!

    sir aliphatic hydocarbons is deleted from syllabus but is still there in the final syllabus can you please tell me its there or not
